“It is a contradiction to be under quarantine and then go to the supermarket or to the movies”, alerts Carlos Palos , internist and coordinator of the Infection Control and Antimicrobial Resistance Group from Luz Saúde and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in a video to “Público” newspaper. For “the purpose of being quarantined is really for people to stay at home”, adds the specialist, further urging people “not to panic”. In a time when many Portuguese are already in isolation and the country is adopting strict measures of prevention to fight the COVID-19 epidemics, Carlos Palos explains in this short video some of the cares quarantined people should have, besides not going out, such as: Ask friends and family to take them home all the things they need; Keep 1.5-2 meters away from other persons living in the same house; Sleep in separate rooms; Open the windows and ventilate the house in order to reduce the viral load. Carlos Palos in the video to “Público” newspaper The Luz Saúde specialist also reminds that those presenting symptoms (coughing, fever and respiratory difficulty) should remain at home, contact the health authorities and follow the instructions provided.“We do not know the percentage of people having the virus and no symptoms. Besides, some people have the virus and present symptoms, but these may be so mild that they do not seek medical support”, he explains.
