Luz Saúde remains the private hospital institution investing the most in activities of Research & Development (R&D): about 4.7 million euros in 2023, according to the latest National Scientific and Technological Potential Survey (IPCTN) conducted by the Directorate General for Education and Science Statistics, that has just been published. Furthermore, considering together public and private institutions, this Group is the third investing the most in the area of Health Sciences, and the fifth in the list of top investors in clinical medicine. The IPCTN 2023: Presents the list of hospital institutions with more spending in R&D activities registered in 2023, which overall represent 93% of expenditure on R&D in this subsector, both in terms of expenditure and in terms of human resources; Was addressed to a total of 71 hospital institutions, corresponding to 190 potential R&D executing units surveyed in the public (162) and private (28) sectors; Luz Saúde comes in sixth place in the global ranking and, as in previous years, is the private group with the largest investment volume in R&D; Disaggregating expenses by R&D area, Luz Saúde stands in third place (with 1.4 million euros) in the list of hospital institutions investing the most in Health Sciences, and in fifth (with 3.3 million euros) in the ranking of top investors in clinical medicine.
