The economy described by those who build it the motto of the special edition of the 30th anniversary of “Exame” magazine. Therefore, it selected 30 figures that were highlighted in its cover along these years and that come again now, photographed and making an assessment of what happened since then in their business groups – among them Isabel Vaz, Luz Saúde CEO, Nuno Amado (BCP), António Horta Osório (Lloyd’s), Elisa Ferreira (vice-governor of Banco de Portugal), Dionísio Pestana (Pestana Group), Sandra Correia (Pelcor), Filipe de Botton (Logoplaste) and António Saraiva (CIP). Isabel Vaz was the cover of “Exame” in the edition of October 2015, when the health group she founded abandoned Grupo Espírito Santo (discarding the designation Espírito Santo Saúde) and joined a new shareholder: “We were still listed in the stock exchange market, although residually, for after the takeover bid, the Fosun group acquired almost the totality of disperse shares. It was a rebirth for us, and the group resurged as Luz Saúde”, recalls the CEO. Since she was on the cover of the magazine, the group invested in Portugal about 200 million euros, and is now in the middle of a new cycle of investment of further 150 million, with special focus on Hospital da Luz Lisboa expansion, which is about to open. The big difference of Luz Saúde comparatively to 2015 is that it now “belongs to a large international group, a vast platform of investment”, where “Portuguese professionals integrate Fosun teams dedicated to the international expansion of the whole health area, namely health techs”. The major challenge is still to consolidate and grow, added Isabel Vaz, who also participated in the conference “Portugal in Exam”, organized by “Exame” magazine.
