Dozens of Luz Saúde collaborators are participating in volunteer actions for Semear, an association based in S. João do Estoril and working at different levels towards the social integration and employment of people with intellectual and developmental difficulties. This is the first entity supported by Luz Saúde in the scope of the initiative “20 years, 20 causes” , that marks its 20 th anniversary. Each of the 20 years of existence of Luz Saúde will correspond to the support of at least one institution developing interventional work in the community, in sectors such as environmental health, social inclusion and fight against poverty, with which institutions it will organize initiatives of solidarity and involvement in the community, and promote the spirit of volunteerism among its collaborators. Semear offers actions of professional education and employment, grows products and sells them to the public. About 30 collaborators of Luz Saúde that work in hospitals, clinics and departments in the area of Lisbon are helping, in the weekends of 21 and 28 November, to prepare land for farming at “Semear na Terra” – in the National Institute of Agricultural and Veterinary Research, in Oeiras – and in the tasks of labelling, cardboard boxes assembly, and support in logistics and products storage, at “Mercearia Semear”, in Sintra.
